I'm working, I'm working already

I'm a Mac guy and my wife's a Windows babe. Sounds like an oxymoron, I know. Still she calls me a freak and I call her a Satan spawn. I mean, Windows is an instrument of the devil, right, and Microsoft loosed it upon the Earth.

Here's a little more proof of their evil intentions:

The (London) Times is reporting that it has seen a patent application filed by Microsoft for a computer system that measures workers' metabolism via sensors linked to their computer. According to the Times, “The system would allow managers to monitor employees’ performance by measuring their heart rate, body temperature, movement, facial expression and blood pressure.”

So what, like, they can tell if you're engaged in work or about to wake up with key impressions on your cheek? Of they can tell if your heart rate seems a little too fast for reading a spreadsheet and maybe, just maybe, you're looking at Web sites that are inappropriate for the office? Since when is a sensor part of a performance review? "Mr. Felps, we noticed six occasions this quarter when your heart rate reached unacceptable levels. You are hearby placed on probation until you increase that reading commensurate with company policy."

Geez, Bill, stick to giving billions to feed children in Africa and stay out of my office. Besides, our meeting's not until 4:30. And bring your office keys and parking pass. End of story
