The crowd at "Club 1982" really knew their era.
More than 200 people got their party on during the "Club 1982" celebration of the Lakewood Service League's 25th year of operation.
The party took place Feb. 9 at Lakewood Country Club, with Shore Chan Bragalone LLP serving as presenting sponsor. Other major sponsors included Millet the Printer, Matthew Trent, and The John Thompson Family.
Chef William Koval created a special menu, and the league honored Lou Alpert with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Between all the revelry and New Wave partying — they made a period rock video? — the league and its supporters raised what is projected to be a record amount totaling $80,000. One-third of the funds will go to improvements at Lakewood Park, one-third to Dallas Children's Advocacy Center for an online parental education program on child abuse, and the final third to the league's other local charities.
The top-valued auction item came from The Mansion on Turtle Creek chef John Tesar, who donated a private dinner for eight at the winning bidder's home. Value: priceless.
