The TAKS test ... Don't Worry You'll Do Fine

As you might know the TAKS test is taken in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades here at Lakewood Elementary. It normally happens in March and April, and a teacher different from your homeroom teacher gives the test to you. Don't freak out! Your teachers have taught you well in all of your years at a school. As long as you persevere and try your best, you will do just fine.

Taking the test the first time might make you a little nervous, but if you pay attention, try your best, and listen well, it is almost as easy as 1, 2, 3. Well, not exactly but it is close. Ms.Dickson will come to your class a few days before the test and go over some great test taking tips. First of all, eat breakfast! Make it healthy and tasty to give you energy and brain power. Peanut butter toast and some fruit is good and also even peanut butter on waffles.

Get a good night's sleep and go to bed an earlier time than your regular bedtime. It's also important to get up a little early so you are at school on time if not before then. So be sure to go to bed extra early so you really get more rest thant normal. A well rested mind will make you feel more confident and healthier on test day.

MARK YOUR BUBBLE SHEET CORRECTLY!!!!!!!!!!! Marking your bubble sheet correctly is very important because it helps you be scored based on the answers you truly selected. If you got a 100% on your test, but you got an 85% on the bubble sheet, guess which grade counts? You will get the bubble sheet grade of 85%. That is why it is so important to go over your test and bubble sheet.

Finally, don't expect a perfect score. Nobody is perfect, so if you miss one or two questions, it is not the end of the world. As long as you pass, be happy. Even if you don't pass, you still have two more chances to take the test and pass.

Do you know how good it feels to pass the test? It's great, and everyone here at Lakewood is capable of doing that and showing your amazing brain power. Everyone has a smart mind and a great way to use it. Who knows? You could be the next Einstein and find life on Mars. Well, I don't know about that, but you can do great things with your mind. You just have to find out what that great thing is.End of story
