I had the somewhat disturbing displeasure a few years back of sitting at a traffic light at the moment a crane removed the Pegasus from atop the old Mobil gas station at Garland Road and Buckner Boulevard.
The station, of course, gave way for a shiny new Wachovia Bank — what else — and the East Dallas icon was moved to the Dallas Historical Museum.
But Jeff Snoyer, who's rapidly becoming the king of Casa Linda revitalization since he brought back the Highland Park Cafeteria and spearheaded a refurbished community meeting center, commissioned a "Pegasus Family" sculpture to be placed on top of the rebuilt Dallas Northeast Chamber of Commerce building in Casa Linda Plaza South. So, way to go, Jeff.
The work of art will be placed on the building during a ceremony at about 1 p.m. May 1.
