Work Among Flowers

People who spend the vast amount of their time at work often get told to stop and smell the flowers.

At least one employer in the area offers a chance for employees to do both.

The Dallas Arboretum, particularly the research and greenhouse department, wants to bring on an intern or part-timer to assist with trial programs.

According to a job description prepared by the department director, Jimmy L. Turner, the person who lands the job is passionate about plants, wants to expand his or her knowledge, has good organizational and time management skills, knows Microsoft Excel and Word Processes, and enjoys being outdoors.

But wait, there's more. The successful candidate will assist the trial research manager with day-to-day activities such as bed maintenance and watering. He or she will also assist with compiling data, measurements, and will have a project that will be solely his or hers to complete. Work will also be done assisting the greenhouse manager with propagation, greenhouse maintenance, and organization.
