In a couple of weekends, neighbors have an opportunity to help make some students' education a little better during the school year.
Lakewood United Methodist Church conducts its Firehouse Second Annual Book Faire from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 31 at the church.
Thousands of slightly used books, mostly children's titles, will be available. There also will be music and storytelling suitable for all ages.
Funds raised from the event help pay for the church's Lakewood Firehouse After School Program, a nonprofit organization that provides snacks, tutoring, and homework assistance four days a week to second- and third-grade students in need of after-school care.
Books, education ... it's a natural fit.
