Delayed news couldn't dilute the joy and pride felt by the Lakewood Elementary After-School Choir at winning a state competition.
The choir took first place in the Sandy Lake Park Annual State Choir Competition, but members and instructor Wilson Tate couldn't hang around after the performance for the announcement ceremonies.
A parent of one of the choir members could stick around for the awards, received the trophy, and headed back to the school.
In the words of Rosalyn Costanzo, who sent us the photos and information, "The kids responded with an explosion of cheers and excitement. All the months of hard work and practice, seem to fade from memory and the kids will only be left with a moment that can only be described as pure jubilation."
Way to go, y'all, way to go.
