Lakewood Library Friends

The Lakewood Library Friends is a nonprofit organization with an open membership of library advocates from the Lakewood and East Dallas communities. The primary purpose of the organization is to provide financial support for the services, collections, and programming at the Lakewood Library.

The Lakewood Library Friends membership consists of volunteers led by the efforts of an Auxiliary Board. The mission of the LLF is to support the Lakewood Library with volunteer time, raise supporting funds to enhance municipal annual budget levels, and promote the profile of the Lakewood Library within the community.

Some of the contributions made possible by the Lakewood Library Friends to the Lakewood Library this year (2006) include:

  • The refinishing of the outside and inside of the Library's front doors
  • The repainting of the Library entryway wall
  • The replacement of the wood on the three front courtyard benches
  • The purchase of a new CD display case with roll-out shelves
  • The purchase of the Children's Auditorium Sound System
  • The purchase of a digital camera for recording all Library functions and events

The Lakewood Library Friends continue a long tradition of hosting literary and cultural events for the community such as the annual "Book Review Series" and the "Lakewood Art Show". Both programs are highly anticipated and well attended each and every year.
